one more comment to my previous about the HONEYWELL made thermostat: check the "FAN" mode. If the fan rans, stays on then the mode changed and re-set the fan to "AUTO" mode. Then the fan runs only when the heat comes on. I studied the instruction manual from the front to back to find out all this. Too bad the installer does not give a lecture on this "wonderful" programmable gadget. But the HWcompany is avail online for trouble shooting.

Thermostat made by Honeywell by: Anonymous
I experienced the same. The only thing that I can think of is that the compressor unit outside froze up - this happened when the temp. was -6 in my area PA. (waiting for my service to call me after I e-mailed the office on the weekend after hours, had heat so it was not an emergency.)The thermostat switched on it's own to AUX mode and the heat was rising up to 82 F then I turned the therm. off. Therm. was set to 72 only and the AUX. override it. Also - if the therm. is programed make sure to hit "cancel hold" before changing the temp. to up or down. I am not happy with this thermostat that has it's own mind programed by the factory. I wish if I would have my old thermostat back, new unit made by Goodman was just installed in 7/2013.
