Buzzing noise coming from the inside unit.

by Charlie Evans
(Russellville, TN)

It's heating but there's a loud buzzing noise from the basement unit. It doesn't do it all the time. During a particular cycle is when it happens.

The unit is a Trane

May not be a significant problem

"During a particular cycle is when it happens." What "particular cycle?" If it is during the defrost cycle, it is probably a heat relay. Sometimes a relay can be noisy and still perform its function. If the system is operating correctly except for the buzzing noise don't worry about it. Have an HVAC technician correct the problem the next time the unit is serviced.
