Circuit Breaker trips after replacing the heat pump capacitor

by JG

I have a Carrier Heat Pump (38YCA/YCN) and I found the Fan Motor not working so I replaced the capacitor that I noticed was bad.
After replacing it the fan started working right away even without setting the thermostat and in the wrong direction. I set the thermostat so the pump will come on but then it tripped the circuit breaker.
I checked the compressor and it has not shorted out and it reads fine.
Has anyone run into this situation, and can you help me.

Wrong capacitor or faulty wiring
by: Anonymous

This sounds like the wiring could be reversed or the capacitor is wrong or bad.
