Heats above set temperature

Lennox HP32 Unit. Experiencing heating problems. Unit continues to heat above temperature setting on thermostat. When shutting unit off pump will continue to run more than a few min's. So I switch off unit at breaker panel. I'll wait about an hr.when temp drops to 69 degrees and restart with thermostat set @ 70 degrees. The same problem will occur again. ?????? This unit is 10 yrs old.

Thermostat?
by: Ex-HVAC Instructor

May be a bad thermostat. If the room temp goes above the thermostat set point it is almost certain to be a thermostat problem. If you remove the thermostat, then use a jumper wire from the Red to Yellow wires, outdoor unit should run, remove jumper, outdoor unit should stop. Turn off circuit breakers for indoor and outdoor units before removing or installing thermostat, turn breakers on for testing. Failure to do this may blow a low voltage fuse or transformer.

check these first

Check the T-stat setting and try adjusting the degree tolerance on the Stat. The other issue sounds
like the DFC Board. 1 or the other.
