XL15i 3.5 ton heat pump with air handler

We installed the above heat pump in Sept 2009.
Every year since the installation we get a flooded basement following activating the air cooling system. It seems the plastic tray that collects the water systematically crack and leaks water the first time we go to the cooling system.
We have yearly service and inspection by the company that did the installation.
They have to reorder a new tray every year and the time lapse results in us being without air conditioning for a week at a time.
I certainly would not recommend a Trane heat pump as friends who have installed other heat pumps do not seem to have the problems we experience.
We are told it is a design fault so maybe Trane should go back to the drawing board on that one.
